This product adds 1.5 quarts of oil capacity in a secure location that remains stable for your pickup tube. Crafted from 356 T-6 Heat Treated Aluminum, this deep sump ensures excellent quality and boasts a secure mounting design.
By attaching this sump to your VW engine, you boost the oil capacity from 2.5 to 4 quarts, reducing the risk of depleting all the oil before it circulates back down. Contrary to some beliefs, deep sumps don't enhance cooling; instead, they maintain a consistent oil supply for the pump to deliver to the bearings. Adequate oil supply is crucial to prevent premature bearing wear caused by air intake when the pump starts pulling in air.
The kit includes the sump, securely fastened allen-headed mounting bolts, reliable hardware and gaskets, and a pickup tube extension. While welding the oil pickup tube extension is optimal, it's easiest to do when the engine is fully disassembled.
