Description
This popular Hurst-style trigger shifter from Empi features a round chrome shaft with a sliding trigger to release the reverse gear lock-out. Available in short or long shaft versions, as well as an extra-long option for Bus applications.
These aftermarket shifters include a reverse gear lock-out: pull the trigger up to open the gate and shift into reverse. Precision-manufactured with tight tolerances, they perform best with well-maintained linkage systems. On older vehicles with worn shifter linkage or bushings, reverse gear may occasionally engage without pulling the trigger. Adjusting the shifter’s side-to-side position can help compensate for linkage play, but if issues persist across all gears, inspect and replace worn shift rod bushings, couplers, and supports.
This is a short shifter, designed for dune buggy and kit car applications. For taller shifter needs, such as in sedans, consider the tall version, ACC-C10-3566.
