There will be some small gaps where the ends of the metal frame join. Also, the upper Hinges are welded to the outer edge of the window frames, leaving it visible when the window is closed (This is how VW originally made the front safari windows). This is done to provide the maximum amount of strength to support the frame when open while you are driving, and bouncing down the road. This is to be expected, and in no way affect the operation of this item.

With your front windows swung open and armed with a couple of surf boards, bagging some wild game at the beach will be child's play.
