This is a 100% new alternator with built-in regulator. Make sure your battery is charging properly with this good quality new replacement alternator. This style of alternator was original equipment on 73-later Beetles and Ghia's to assure fast starts and bright lights. Please note- on 73-74 models- you will need to do a small amount of re-wiring. See installation instructions for details. FITS: Beetle 73-79 Ghia 73-74. This is the alternator used when upgrading your 1966-1973 Beetle or Ghia from the old 12volt generator to an alternator. This alternator is the exact replacement for the original Bosch unit AL82N, which has been discontinued by Bosch.
