Description
Replace a worn or damaged IRS drive axle with this complete new EMPI axle assembly for select Volkswagen and early Porsche applications. The assembly is built from new components and comes complete with the axle shaft, CV joints, boots, and related assembled components shown.
This axle measures approximately 16 3/8 inches overall length and is designed for vehicles equipped with Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) and a manual transmission. It provides a convenient complete replacement rather than rebuilding an original axle assembly component by component.
Important Fitment Note: VW applications must be equipped with IRS and a manual transmission. Fits 1968-1979 Beetle and Karmann Ghia IRS applications, 1971-1979 Super Beetle, and 1969-1973 Type 3 models. Does not fit Automatic Type 3 models. Also fits select 1965-1968 Porsche 911 and Porsche 912 applications.
Installation Note: Lubricant / CV joint grease is not included. Use the correct CV joint grease and follow proper installation and torque procedures when installing the axle.
