BBT Chrome Bumpers
BBT bumpers are pressed to our exact specifications in a specialist steel bumper factory in Brazil. After pressing, they are shipped to BBT headquarters and then sent to a leading European chrome factory.That factory takes environmental responsibility seriously. The water leaving the plant is of a higher quality than bottled drinking water — something that matters to us. We look for every opportunity to reduce our impact. The chroming itself is carried out using the latest technologies for steel chrome.
Chrome specifications
- Copper: 20 µ ± 5 µ
- Nickel: 20 µ ± 5 µ
- Chrome plating: 0.3 µ ± 0.1 µ
Quality control is rigorous. From every 100 bumpers, two are selected at random and subjected to a salt spray test of no less than 240 hours. That is the same international assembly-line standard used by manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Harley-Davidson. If it meets their requirements, it meets ours for Volkswagen as well.
After the salt spray test, those bumpers are broken in a torsion machine to verify chrome adhesion to the metal.
We put this much emphasis on quality control because it is the only reliable way to guarantee a first-class product.
Beware of Cheap reproductions. Every genuine BBT chrome bumper carries a small BBT quality sticker on the inside. That mark is your warranty and your assurance that you have a real BBT product.
